Launched in 2013 by pediatrician and social entrepreneur Ben Meisel, M.D., Dr. Ben & Company is a platform for development of childhood-empowering music, educational gaming, and kid's health entertainment. "Dr. Ben" - as he is lovingly known by families - works as an ambassador and consultant to expand the reach of Child Life services beyond the hospital to children, teens and families seeking to live well despite serious medical conditions. In 2014 Dr. Ben ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to complete a 15 song children's music recording titled “A Perfect Day” to celebrate the remarkable children "patients" who show us all how it is possible to live life to the fullest, no matter what comes. These children find their own definition of perfection in the face of imperfect health circumstances. Dr. Ben's music has been featured internationally including recordings as KiD'n Together (with brother Alex) garnering the top award for children's music - Platinum Best Audio Award - from the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio. ▪ Dr. Ben uses his musical performances and speaking engagements to promote organizations and institutions that are actively Building Play Into Health for children with Special Health Needs. ▪ Dr. Ben consults on Building Play Into Health for hospitals, organizations, and individuals seeking to develop child life based wellness camp resilience programming for children and teens. ▪ Dr. Ben has served as an ambassador for and contributor to the greater Health 2.0 community as a developer of Games For Health in conjunction with students at the USC GamePipe Lab. |
